Image-based deduplication process for digital content

A computer-implemented method comprising:

• extracting image points from a first image associated with a first web page and image points from a second image associated with a second web page;
• determining image point pairings between the image points of the first image and the image points of the second image based on content included in the images;
• executing a regression operation on the image point pairs to determine which image point pairings are a match;
• and
• in response to an amount of matching image point pairings being greater than a predetermined threshold, determining the first image and the second image are captured of the same item, and transmitting information about the first and second images captured of the same item to an application.

A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored therein instructions that when executed cause a computer to perform a method for performing deduplication of web content, the content comparison method comprising:

• extracting image points from a first image associated with a first web page and image points from a second image associated with a second web page;
• determining image point pairings between the image points of the first image and the image points of the second image based on content included in the images;
• executing a regression operation on the image point pairs to determine which image point pairings are a match;
• and
• in response to an amount of matching image point pairings being greater than a predetermined threshold, determining the first image and the second image are captured of the same item, and transmitting information about the first and second images captured of the same item to an application.
