Abstract
Various methods and systems are provided for a flexible, lightweight, low-cost radio frequency (RF) coil array of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. In one example, a RF coil assembly for a MRI system includes a loop portion comprising distributed capacitance wire conductors, a coupling electronics portion including a pre-amplifier. A coupler slidably connects two adjacent coil loops together. An open area is formed inside the loops enabling tissue manipulation or biopsies from interventional or surgical procedures.
Claims17
A radio frequency (RF) coil array assembly for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, comprising:
- a plurality of RF coils, each RF coil comprising a loop portion that includes two distributed capacitance wire conductors;
- and
- at least one coupler slidably connecting the loop portions of two adjacent RF coils,
- wherein an open area is formed inside the loop portion of each RF coil to provide access to an anatomy of a subject to be imaged.
A method comprising:
- attaching a radio frequency (RF) coil array assembly to an anatomy of a subject for receiving magnetic resonance (MR) signals from the anatomy;
- and
- accessing the anatomy of the subject through at least one open area of the RF coil array assembly.
