Abstract
A system and method for providing store and forward messaging on a partitioned cache provided by a distributed data grid. The store and forward message system implements publish and subscribe semantics in a way that distributed messages over the partitions of the distributed cache, reduces contention and makes efficient use of processor and network resources.
Claims20
A message system comprising:
- a distributed computing environment comprising a plurality of computer systems each comprising a processor and memory and interconnected by a network;
- a partitioned cache comprising a plurality of partitions distributed in the memory of said plurality of computer systems;
- a plurality of pages distributed over said plurality of partitions;
- a plurality of publishers for publishing messages to a tail page of said plurality of pages;
- and
- a plurality of subscribers for consuming messages from said plurality of pages.
A method for supporting messaging in a distributed computing environment comprising a plurality of computer systems each comprising a processor and memory and interconnected by a network, the method comprising:
- providing a partitioned cache comprising a plurality of partitions distributed in the memory of said plurality of computer systems;
- storing a plurality of pages distributed over said plurality of partitions;
- providing a plurality of publishers for publishing messages to a tail page of said plurality of pages;
- and
- providing a plurality of subscribers for consuming messages from said plurality of pages.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage media including instructions stored thereon for supporting messaging in a distributed computing environment comprising a plurality of computer systems each comprising a processor and memory and interconnected by a network, which instructions, when executed, cause the distributed computing environment to perform steps comprising:
- providing a partitioned cache comprising a plurality of partitions distributed in the memory of said plurality of computer systems;
- storing a plurality of pages distributed over said plurality of partitions;
- providing a plurality of publishers for publishing messages to a tail page of said plurality of pages;
- and
- providing a plurality of subscribers for consuming messages from said plurality of pages.
