Abstract
Some examples provide a method for automatic network assembly. The following instructions may be used to implement automatic network assembly in a modular infrastructure. Instructions to automatically connect a management port to a management network. Instructions to automatically connect link ports to form a scalable ring. Instructions to automatically connect each modular infrastructure management device to a bay management network port.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- a modular infrastructure including a set of modular infrastructure components including:
- a pair of infrastructure management devices that
- connect a pair of external management ports to a management network,
- connect a pair of internal link ports to one another via the midplane, and
- connect each external link port of the pair of link ports to an external link port on another modular infrastructure to form a scalable ring;
- and
- an appliance that uses software to manage a compute device, a storage device and an interconnect connected to the modular infrastructures via a set of bay management network ports.
An infrastructure management device comprising:
- an external management port to connect the infrastructure management device to a management network;
- an external link port to connect the infrastructure management device to another infrastructure management device via another external link port on the another infrastructure management device;
- an internal link port to connect the infrastructure management device to a redundant infrastructure management device in the same modular infrastructure;
- and
- a set of bay management network ports, each of the set of bay management network ports to connect to a modular infrastructure management component including an appliance that uses software to manage a compute device, a storage device and an interconnect connected to the infrastructure management device.
A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that when executed cause a processor to implement automatic network assembly in a modular infrastructure, the instructions to:
- automatically connect a management port to a management network;
- automatically connect link ports to form a scalable ring, and
- automatically connect each modular infrastructure management device to a bay management network port.
