Information processing apparatus, method, and storage medium

A method comprising the steps of:

• extracting a character area within an image object included in a file;
• determining whether or not the file is a searchable file including an image and results of character recognition corresponding to the image based on a position relationship between the character area extracted at the extraction step and an area in which a character object included in the file is drawn;
• and
• generating a file including results of character recognition processing by performing the character recognition processing for the image object in accordance with that it is determined that the file is not a searchable file at the determination step.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to perform a method comprising the steps of:

• extracting a character area within an image object included in a file;
• determining whether or not the file is a searchable file including an image and results of character recognition corresponding to the image based on a position relationship between the character area extracted at the extraction step and an area in which a character object included in the file is drawn;
• and
• generating a file including results of character recognition processing by performing the character recognition processing for the image object in accordance with that it is determined that the file is not a searchable file at the determination step.
