Automatic modeling for monitoring, diagnostics, optimization and control

A system comprising:

• a plurality of sensors that, in operation, sense operational parameters of a controlled machine or process, and a plurality of actuators that, in operation, control operation of the machine or process;
• an automation controller coupled to the sensors and the actuators, that, in operation, controls the machine or process via the actuators based upon feedback from the sensors and based upon a model of at least a part of the machine or process;
• and
• an analytics engine executed by a processor, that receives annotated input data derived from the sensed data or from data generated by the automation controller and generates the model, based upon an agnostic model stored in a memory and upon the annotated input data.

A method comprising:

• sensing via a plurality of sensors, operational parameters of a controlled machine or process;
• controlling, via a plurality of actuators, operation of the machine or process;
• in an automation controller, receiving feedback from the sensors and providing control signals to the actuators based upon a model of at least a part of the machine or process coupled to the sensors and the actuators;
• annotating input data derived from the sensed data or from data generated by the automation controller to produce annotated input data;
• and
• via an analytics engine executed by a processor, receiving the annotated input data and generating the model, based upon an agnostic model stored in a memory and upon the annotated input data.
