Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus having a plurality of image forming modes including a first image forming mode and a second image forming mode, comprising:

• a rotatable image bearing member;
• a charging member configured to charge a surface of the image bearing member;
• an exposing member configured to expose the charged surface of the image bearing member to form an electrostatic latent image;
• a developer carrying member configured to develop the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface by a developer;
• a storage member configured to store a threshold and a value related to a driving amount of the image bearing member;
• a setting member configured to set a value related to a first driving amount in the first image forming mode to be compared with the threshold, based on the value related to the driving amount and set a value related to a second driving amount in the second image forming mode to be compared with the threshold, based on the value related to the driving amount, in order to determine whether the value related to the driving amount stored in the storage member is above the threshold for each mode;
• a controller configured to (i) perform a first determination regarding a lifetime corresponding to the first image forming mode based on a comparison between the threshold and the value related to the first driving amount and (ii) perform a second determination regarding a lifetime corresponding to the second image forming mode based on a comparison between the threshold and the value related to the second driving amount;
• and
• a notifying unit configured to perform a notification based on a result of each of the first determination and the second determination to the image bearing member.

An image forming apparatus having a plurality of image forming modes including a first image forming mode and a second image forming mode, comprising:

• a rotatable image bearing member;
• a charging member configured to charge a surface of the image bearing member;
• an exposing member configured to expose the charged surface of the image bearing member to form an electrostatic latent image;
• a developer carrying member configured to develop the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface by a developer;
• a storage member configured to store a threshold and a value related to a driving amount of the image bearing member;
• a setting member configured to set a value related to a first driving amount in the first image forming mode to be compared with the threshold, based on the value related to the driving amount and set a value related to a second driving amount in the second image forming mode to be compared with the threshold, based on the value related to the driving amount, in order to determine whether the value related to the driving amount stored in the storage member is above the threshold for each mode;
• and
• a controller configured to (i) perform a first determination regarding a lifetime corresponding to the first image forming mode based on a comparison between the threshold and the value related to the first driving amount and (ii) perform a second determination regarding a lifetime corresponding to the second image forming mode based on a comparison between the threshold and the value related to the second driving amount;
• wherein the value related to the second driving amount corresponds to a value in case that the image bearing member operates more than the related to the first driving amount, and
• the controller allows an operation in the first image forming mode after a notification based on the result of the second determination is performed.
