Sensor device and antenna, and systems and methods for obtaining and transmitting measurements of selected characteristics of a concrete mixture

A sensor device comprising:

• a housing;
• a sensor adapted to obtain a measurement;
• a wire extending from the housing, the wire having a length, the wire adapted to function as an antenna;
• and
• a transmitter adapted to transmit a signal via the wire, the signal having a wavelength related to the length of the wire.

A device comprising:

• a printed circuit board comprising one or more sensors adapted to obtain measurement data and a first antenna adapted to transmit a first signal based on the measurement data;
• a layer of a waterproof protective material covering at least a portion of the printed circuit board;
• and
• a conductive wire having a first portion that is wound around the printed circuit board to form a plurality of coils and a second portion that functions as a second antenna;
• wherein:
• the plurality of coils of the conductive wire responds to the first signal due to inductive coupling, thereby generating a second signal;
• and
• the second antenna transmits the second signal.
