Abstract
A device and system for sensing high pressure in a pressurized water system. The high pressure alarm includes a pressure sensor, controller, and timer. A method of installing a high pressure alarm on a pressurized water system. The high pressure alarm is particularly well-suited for installing under a sink, such as a home kitchen sink, though it can also be installed near other plumbing fixtures or appliances in commercial, residential, or industrial facilities and in outside areas.
Claims20
A device for sensing pressure in a pressurized water piping system comprising:
- a pressure sensor configured to sense a pressure of the pressurized water piping system;
- a controller in communication with the pressure sensor, the controller being configured to,
- generate a notification when the sensed pressure is greater than a value, and
- activate a supply or relief valve based on the sensed pressure of the pressurized water piping system;
- a transmitter configured to transmit the notification to a user via wireless or wired communication;
- and
- a database in communication with the controller for storing records of pressure values sensed by the pressure sensor.
A method of alerting to high pressure in a pressurized water piping system comprising:
- sensing a water pressure of the pressurized water piping system with a device, the device comprising:
- a pressure sensor configured to sense a pressure of the pressurized water piping system;
- a controller in communication with the pressure sensor, the controller being configured to,
- generate a notification when the sensed pressure is greater than a value, and
- activate a supply or relief valve based on the sensed pressure of the pressurized water piping system;
- a transmitter configured to transmit the notification to a user via wireless or wired communication;
- and
- a database in communication with the controller for storing records of pressure values sensed by the pressure sensor.
An apparatus for sensing high pressure in a pressurized water piping system comprising:
- a housing having a supply or relief valve, a pressure sensor configured to sense a pressure of the pressurized water piping system, and a controller in communication with the pressure sensor, the controller being configured to generate a notification when the sensed pressure is greater than a value, and activate the supply or relief valve based on the sensed pressure of the pressurized water piping system.
