Light beam direction control element, display device, and manufacturing method for light beam direction control element

A manufacturing method for a light beam direction control element, comprising:

• a first transparent conductive film pattern formation step of forming, on a first surface of a first transparent substrate, a first conductive film pattern having openings;
• a photosensitive resin layering step of layering a transparent photosensitive resin layer on the first surface of the first transparent substrate on which the first conductive film pattern was formed;
• an exposure light radiation step of radiating, towards the layered transparent photosensitive resin layer, exposure light constituted of parallel light that is parallel to a layering direction;
• a transmissive region formation step of performing a developing process on the transparent photosensitive resin layer on which the exposure light was radiated, thereby forming a plurality of light-transmissive regions that are separated from each other;
• a second transparent substrate placement step of placing a second transparent substrate having formed on a second surface thereof a second conductive film pattern having openings, such that the second surface faces the plurality of light-transmissive regions;
• and
• an electrophoretic element filling step of filling a gap formed between the first conductive film pattern, the plurality of light-transmissive regions, and the second conductive film pattern, with an electrophoretic element that includes light-shielding electrophoretic particles that have a surface charge and a transparent dispersion medium.
