Abstract
Materials and methods for enhancing the effectiveness of proton radiation therapy (e.g., high linear energy transfer (LET) proton radiation therapy) against tumor cells are provided herein.
Claims21
A method for sensitizing tumor cells to high linear energy transfer (LET) proton radiation, the method comprising contacting the tumor cells with a composition comprising one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers and nanoparticulate genistein at a concentration between about 250 mg/mL and about 500 mg/mL, and subsequently contacting the tumor cells with the high LET proton radiation.
A method for treating a mammal identified as having a solid tumor and slated to undergo treatment with high LET proton radiotherapy, comprising administering to the mammal a composition comprising one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers and nanoparticulate genistein at a concentration between about 250 mg/mL and about 500 mg/mL.
