Abstract
A method for assessing compliance with a protocol requiring or advising the use of lift assist equipment for repositioning an occupant of an occupant support includes the steps of: 1) determining a measure of load borne by the occupant support over an interval of time; 2) determining how much the location of the occupant's center of mass relative to the occupant support has changed during the interval of time; and 3) assessing compliance with the protocol as a function of the load measure, the change of location, and a measure of the occupant's weight. In one embodiment the load measure is an integral of load over an interval of time. An apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a processor and instructions which are executable by the processor.
Claims40
A method for assessing compliance with a protocol requiring or advising the use of lift assist equipment for repositioning an occupant of an occupant support, the method comprising:
- determining a measure of load borne by the occupant support over an interval of time;
- determining how much the location of the occupant's center of mass relative to the occupant support has changed during the interval of time;
- and
- assessing compliance with the protocol as a function of the load measure, the change of location, and a measure of the occupant's weight.
A apparatus for distinguishing between compliant and other than compliant repositioning of an occupant of an occupant support comprising:
- a processor;
- instructions which are executable by the processor and which, when executed, cause the apparatus to distinguish between compliant and other than compliant repositioning of the occupant as a function of a weight measure, a load measure, and a change in the occupant's center of mass relative to the occupant support.
A method for assessing compliance with a protocol requiring or advising the use of lift assist equipment for repositioning an occupant of an occupant support, the method comprising:
- determining a measure of load borne by the occupant support over an interval of time;
- determining how much the location of the occupant's center of mass relative to the occupant support has changed during the interval of time;
- and
- determining the status of the change of location with respect to the protocol as a function of the load measure, the change of location, and a measure of the occupant's weight.
A method for assessing compliance with a protocol requiring or advising the use of lift assist equipment for repositioning an occupant of an occupant support, the method comprising:
- determining if a precursor event has occurred;
- equating at least one test threshold to a test threshold value, the test threshold value being a function of the determining step such that the method is more likely to predict compliance with the protocol if the precursor event has not occurred and more likely to predict noncompliance or other than compliance with the protocol if the precursor event has occurred.
