Abstract
A prosthetic implant transfer device is provided that may be used to insert a prosthetic implant trough a surgical opening. In some embodiments, the device may comprise a flexible sheet of material that may be formed into an elongated hollow structure. The flexible skeet of material includes a plurality of fasteners that may be selected and engaged to define a desired size distal opening.
Claims20
A delivery system adapted to facilitate insertion of a prosthetic implant through a surgical opening in a patient, the system comprising:
- a flexible sheet having a first edge and a second edge transverse from the first edge, the material further defining a first side portion, a second side portion, a proximal end portion, and a distal end portion;
- a fastener assembly comprising a first fastener portion and at least one second fastener portion, the fastener assembly integral with the flexible sheet, the first fastener portion disposed in a generally longitudinal relationship with the first edge, and each of the at least one second fastener portion disposed in a generally longitudinal relationship with the second edge, each of the at least one second fastener portion adapted to connect with mate with the first fastener portion to secure the first side portion to the second side portion and forming a predetermined size distal opening at the distal end portion, the distal opening adapted to be inserted into the surgical opening of the patient.
A delivery system adapted to facilitate insertion of a prosthetic implant through a surgical opening, the system comprising:
- a flexible elongated member defining a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end formed opposite the distal end, the distal end including a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge, the first longitudinal edge and second longitudinal edge defining a longitudinal opening,
- at least one first fastener integral with the elongated member and adjacent the first longitudinal edge, and a second fastener integral with the elongated member and adjacent the second longitudinal edge;
- the second fastener engageable with at least the first fastener to close the longitudinal opening, whereby a predetermined size distal opening, is formed based on the engagement of the second fastener with the at least one first fastener, the distal opening sized to allow the prosthetic implant to be urged therethrough.
A delivery system for reducing the profile of a prosthetic implant at a surgical opening site in a patient, the system comprising:
- a flexible sheet having a first edge and a second edge transverse from the first edge, a proximal end portion, a distal end portion opposite from the proximal end portion, and integrally formed fastener assembly;
- the fastener assembly comprising a first fastener and a second fastener, the first fastener adapted to engage the second fastener to connect the first edge and the second edge of the sheet to form a distal opening of a size commensurate with the surgical opening site.
