Abstract
A smoking bowl for a water pipe comprised of a conical smoking chamber with a wide bottom aperture. The stem is inserted in a water pipe. At the base of the conical chamber is a narrow horizontal slit where a solid thin flat grate is inserted. When the grate is inserted it partially obscures the chamber's bottom aperture. A combustible material is placed in the chamber, with the grate engaged, and the material is smoked through the attached water pipe. When done smoking the grate is released from the chamber and the spent ash and resin is transmitted through the stem into the water pipe. The force of equalizing air pressure assists the transmittal of ash and resin. This action allows for heavy usage of the bowl before resin build up negatively affects the operation of this device.
Claims4
1) A clog resistant smoking bowl for a water pipe, comprising;
- a) an ignition chamber with a horizontal opening just above said ignition chamber's bottom aperture where said ignition chamber is attached to a stem, and
- b) said horizontal opening sized to allow a grate to be inserted into said ignition chamber so that said grate partially covers, to a predetermined extent, said bottom aperture, with
- c) a first means to provide a movement mechanism to hold said grate inside said ignition chamber and also to slide said grate out of said ignition chamber, and
- d) a second means to provide housing to secure said first means movement mechanism and said grate in an aligned position to said horizontal opening of said ignition chamber, and
- e) a third means to connect said stem to said water pipe,
- whereby said grate is held over said bottom aperture thus retaining a pipe load in said chamber, while smoking, such that after releasing said grate the spent pipe load is substantially transmitted through said stem into said water pipe.
4) A method of using a single dose clog resistant smoking bowl that has been connected to a water pipe, comprising;
- a) placing combustible material in a chamber that has a removable grate partially covering said chamber's bottom aperture, then
- b) igniting and inhaling the burning combustible material, where
- c) by inhaling, through the partially covered said lower aperture, a low pressure area is enhanced in said water pipe, so that when
- d) said grate is removed from said chamber, while continuing to inhale,
- whereby most of the spent combustible material is transmitted into said water pipe assisted by the force of equalizing air pressure traveling through said chamber.
