Abstract
The present invention relates to a communication between MAC layer entity and PHY layer entity for parallel random access procedures of dual connectivity. In this scheme, a first PHY entity of a user equipment informs a failure of a random access preamble transmission to a first MAC entity of the UE. Then, the first MAC entity continues or stops a random access procedure without performing procedures for a random access failure.
Claims10
A user equipment (UE) configured to perform a random access procedure in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:
- a transceiver configured to transmit or retransmit a random access preamble for the random access procedure to a network, and to receive a random access response;
- and
- a processor comprising a MAC (Medium Access Control) layer entity and a physical layer entity,
- wherein the MAC layer entity is configured to set a parameter for a transmission power of the transceiver for transmitting or retransmitting the random access preamble based on ‘(a counter value−1)*power ramping value’, and
- wherein the physical layer entity is configured to send a notification of suspending to the MAC layer entity such that the MAC layer entity does not increase the counter value.
A method for a user equipment (UE) comprising a transceiver and a processor to perform a random access procedure in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- transmitting, by the transceiver, a random access preamble for the random access procedure to a network with a first transmission power;
- and
- retransmitting, by the transceiver, the random access preamble to the network with a second transmission power, when the UE does not receive a random access response to the random access preamble,
- wherein the processor comprises a MAC (Medium Access Control) layer entity and a physical layer entity,
- wherein the MAC layer entity sets a parameter for the second transmission power based on ‘(a counter value−1)*power ramping value’, and
- wherein the MAC layer entity increments the counter value by 1, when the random access preamble is to be retransmitted and when a notification of suspending power ramping has not been received from the physical layer entity.
