Abstract
An externally coupled speaker assembly having a horizontal ledge extending along a top side of a housing having an opening therein. A screen is positioned at the opening of the housing. A horizontal portion of the screen is retained between a bottom surface of a speaker and the horizontal ledge of the housing. A vertical portion of the screen is retained in a channel approximate to the opening of the housing.
Claims19
An externally coupled speaker assembly, comprising:
- a speaker,
- a housing for receiving the speaker, the housing having an opening that extends to an area outside of the speaker assembly, wherein the speaker is externally coupled to the area outside of the speaker assembly through the opening in the housing,
- a channel in the housing approximate to the opening;
- a horizontal ledge extending along a top side of the opening in the housing;
- and
- a screen positioned at the opening of the housing, the screen having a vertical portion and a horizontal portion, the vertical portion of the screen being retained by the channel and the horizontal portion being retained between the speaker and the housing along the horizontal ledge of the housing.
A speaker housing for an externally coupled speaker, the speaker housing comprising:
- an opening in the speaker housing that extends to an area outside of the speaker housing,
- a channel at the opening in the speaker housing;
- a horizontal ledge extending along the speaker housing at a top side of the opening in the speaker housing;
- and
- a screen positioned at the opening of the speaker housing, the screen having a vertical portion and a horizontal portion, the vertical portion of the screen being retained by the channel and the horizontal portion being retained between the externally coupled speaker and the speaker housing along the horizontal ledge of the speaker housing.
A screen for a speaker assembly having a speaker and an externally coupled speaker housing having an opening therein, the screen comprising:
- a vertical portion retained in a channel of the speaker housing positioned near the opening;
- and
- a horizontal portion interposed between the speaker and the externally coupled speaker housing.
