Abstract

This application discloses embodiments of systems and methods for a flexible automation system for a network of connected machines. In some embodiments, the network of connected machines uses one or more of wireless protocols such as Zigbee, ZWave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other IEEE 802.15.4 protocols. Intuitive graphical user interface methods are provided to allow users to implement their custom logic without requiring custom software programming. Systems and methods are provided to customize downloadable and sharable automation software applications to work in a variety of non-identical network configurations. Intuitive graphical user interface methods are provided to allow users to custom configure automation rules for their network of machines by remote collaboration or allowing remote configuring by experts.

Dependent claims

A method of enabling a software application to customize its functionality to a specific configuration of a network of machines from amongst a plurality of configurations, comprising the steps of:

(a) providing to said software application, a set of selection criteria to select a sub-set of the machines present in the network of machines;
(b) said software application communicating with a central observer of the network of machines and obtaining from said central observer, information about the sub-set of machines that meet the selection criteria of step (a);
(c) said central observer of step (b) providing to said software application, periodic and event triggered updates about changes in the operating conditions of machines that meet the selection criteria of step (a);
whereby said software application is enabled to control and co-ordinate the specific subset of the network of machines that was specified in the selection criterion of step (a)
