Abstract
An offset cancellation circuit and method are provided where successive stages of cascaded amplifiers are operated in a saturated state. Biasing is provided, by a feedback amplifier, connected in a feedback loop for each cascaded amplifier, so as to be responsive, in a non-saturated state, to the input of an associated amplifier stage operating in the saturated state.
Claims19
An offset cancellation circuit comprising:
- a plurality of amplifier stages cascaded together with the output of the previous amplifier stage being connected to the input of the next stage in the cascade, the plurality of amplifier stages including a first amplifier stage;
- and
- a feedback loop being provided from the output of each amplifier stage back to the input of a prior amplifier stage;
- each feedback loop having a feedback amplifier with a feedback amplifier input being connected to an amplifier stage output and a feedback amplifier output being connected to the input of one of the prior amplifier stages.

An offset cancellation circuit comprising:
- a plurality of amplifier stages cascaded together with the output of the previous amplifier stage being connected to the input of the next stage in the cascade;
- and
- a feedback loop being provided from the output of each amplifier stage of the plurality of amplifier stages back to the input of a previous amplifier stage of the plurality of amplifier stages.
An offset cancellation circuit comprising:
- a plurality of differential amplifier stages cascaded together, each amplifier stage comprising two source connected field effect transistors;
- the drain of each field effect transistor in a previous stage being connected to an associated gate of a field effect transistor in a next stage;
- and
- a feedback loop being provided from the output of each amplifier stage back to the input of a previous amplifier stage, the feedback loop including a feedback amplifier including a differential pair of source connected field effect transistors wherein the drain of each differential amplifier from an amplifier stage is connected to an associated gate of a transistor of the feedback amplifier.
1 more element
A method of offset cancellation comprising:
- operating successive stages, of a chain of a plurality of cascaded amplifiers, in a saturated state;
- and
- biasing a feedback amplifier, in a feedback loop for each amplifier operating in a saturated state, so as to be responsive, in a non-saturated state, to the input of an associated amplifier stage operating in the saturated state.
