Abstract
With the aim of contributing to the optimization of commuting systems, roadways, and other motion systems, Pace Delineation jibe iota (PD) addresses the issue of crossing paths of travel. PD is the process of gathering and analyzing velocities, positions, and other parameters and properties of traversing units to determine the velocities of each such that they do not arrive at the intersections at the same time. Such coordination can help avoid the stoppage of vehicles at an intersection, and collisions obviously. The process also accommodates an overtaking condition which may be used to prioritize emergency responders or other traversals.
Claims8
A pace delineation method for jibing the velocities of traversing units (TU's), such as autonomous vehicles, through a common intersection, or demarcated zone (DZ), such that the TU time's present in the DZ are compartmentalized, and sufficiently separated to avoid stoppage and collision;
- utilizing parameters captured by Pace Delineation Components (PDC's) that may be embodied in infrastructure, sensors, onboard or remote vehicular software, or other embodiments capable of triggering the communication of a TU's interaction with a regulated zone (RZ) and some central unit (CU), which may manifest in the form of distributed software, locally or remotely run, or run on an ad hoc or temporary network, that aggregates information on the RZ and TU's and initiates communication back to TU's directly or through peripheral receivers;
- the CU, which may leverage CPU's, GPUs, field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), or other logic devices, receives and processes TU velocities, size parameters including virtual margins, target destinations, travel path lengths, braking rates and acceleration rates, updated velocities, temporal values, priority ranking information, and further wields the capacity to impose auxiliary parameters to calculations using each vehicles size dimensions, velocity bounds, and delineate velocities through an RZ sequentially by order of check in, or delineating TU velocities, or velocity rates of change based on various efficiency criteria such as rate of traversals, priority rankings, when calculating target velocities.
A time tracking mechanism configured to reflect the time(s) a demarcated zone will be available or unavailable for traversal;
- consisting of a temporal representation of a traversals through some demarcated zone;
- by implication such a time tracker will increase the duration and/or time values representing availability of traversal through the zone as TU's check into a regulated zone (RZ) yet is always counting down, so long as TU's are traversing through the RZ.
The utilization of pace delineation component (PDC) layouts, consisting of a regulated zone where traversing units interact with PDCs and a CU(s), a demarcated zone entry and exit point representations, that is represents an area of intersecting paths of travel, integrated with a communication protocol to leverage the distance representation of the PDC points, which may stem from vehicles, infrastructure systems, remote systems or other embodiments that may serve the functions required for pace delineation, to derive traversal times, DZ occupancy times or time ranges, capture vehicle information such as margins, priority rankings, rates of velocity change, and time and be arranged uniquely for differently layouts, intersections and topologies.
