Pressure regulator with user selectable dampening

A pressure regulator, comprising:

• a body comprising a regulated fluid volume, at least one vent passage and fluid supply passage, a first cross passage and a second cross passage opening outwardly of the thereof, and a cap having piston bore extending thereinto and opening to a location exterior of the body, the cap further comprising a cap cross bore extending therethrough and communicating at a first end thereof with the piston bore and at the second end thereof with the first cross bore, the second cross bore opening into the regulated fluid volume;
• a damped piston disposed in the piston bore, the piston having a first surface facing the piston bore and a second surface extendable outwardly of the body, the volume of the piston bore between the first surface of the damped piston and the piston bore defining a dampening volume in communication with the cap cross bore;
• an external biasing member contactable with the second surface of the piston and providing a force on the piston directed inwardly of the body;
• a gate connected to the piston and having a first seal and a second seal;
• and
• orifice housing connected to an outer surface of the body, the orifice housing comprising:
• a first body portion and a second body portion;
• a first fluid passage extending from an outer surface of the first body portion and inwardly thereof and in alignment with the first cross bore
• a second fluid passage extending from an outer surface of the second body portion and inwardly thereof and in alignment with the second cross bore;
• and
• an orifice passage extending from the first passage at a location within the first body portion to the second passage at a location within the second body portion, the orifice passage crossing through opposed facing surfaces of the first body portion and second body portion;
• an orifice plate having an orifice therethrough, replaceably disposed in the orifice passage.

A pressure regulator, comprising:

• a body comprising a regulated fluid volume, at least one vent passage and fluid supply passage, a dampening piston bore and one regulated fluid volume outlet passage;
• a gate;
• a dampening piston disposed in the dampening piston bore, the dampening piston disposed between a dampening volume and the regulated fluid volume, the dampening piston including a dampening piston bore extending therethrough and communicable between the regulated fluid volume and the dampening volume, the dampening piston including an orifice position in fluid communication with the dampening piston bore and configured to receive at least one of at least two orifice inserts therein, each of the at least two orifice inserts having different fluid flow properties therethrough;
• and
• an opening extending from the dampening volume outwardly the body, the opening sealable by a removable plug, the opening aligned with the orifice position.
