A composition comprising:
- a) calcium oxide in particle form,
- b) an inhibitor for the reaction of calcium oxide with water and
- c) optionally water.
A method comprising stabilizing a composition containing calcium oxide and water and/or for inhibiting the reaction of calcium oxide with water, with a phosphoric acid ester of a polyhydric alcohol and/or of a carbohydrate.
