Abstract
The invention relates to a method of diagnosing or predicting a bladder cancer, or a risk of a developing a bladder cancer in a subject, which method comprises the detection of specific mutations in the FGFR3 gene in a first biological sample; and the measure of the degree of methylation of target genes in a biological sample obtained from said subject in a second biological sample,

1-19. (canceled)
A method for the treatment of bladder cancer, wherein said method comprises the steps of:
- a) detecting, in a biological sample obtained from a subject, mutations in the FGFR3 gene;
- b) measuring, in the same biological sample as that used in step a), the degree of methylation of SEPTIN 9 and HS3ST2,
- c) determining, in view of the results obtained in steps a) and b), whether the subject has bladder cancer;
- and
- d) treating the subject identified as having a bladder cancer in step c) with an anticancer treatment,
- wherein said mutations are:
- 742C→T, 746C→G, 1114G→T, and 1124A→G by reference to the nucleotide numbers of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- or
- Arg248Cys, Ser249Cys, Gly372Cys, and Tyr375Cys, by reference to the amino acid numbers of SEQ ID NO:
- 2.
