Separators, lead acid batteries, and methods and systems associated therewith

An improved battery separator for reducing floating charges, reducing water electrolysis, and/or reducing rates of water loss in lead acid batteries, comprising:

• a porous membrane comprising:
• an additive at a density from about 5.0-10.0 g/m2;
• and
• a metal salt at a density from about 1.0-7.5 g/m2.

Novel or improved separators, particularly separators for lead acid batteries;

• novel or improved separators, battery separators, batteries, cells, systems, vehicles, and/or methods of manufacture and/or use of such separators, battery separators, cells, systems, and/or batteries;
• an improved separator for lead acid batteries and/or improved methods of using such batteries having such improved separators;
• methods, systems, treatments, and battery separators for enhancing battery life, reducing battery failure, reducing water loss, lowering float current, minimizing internal resistance increases, increasing wettability, reducing acid stratification, improving acid diffusion, and/or improving uniformity in lead acid batteries;
• an improved separator for lead acid batteries wherein the separator includes improved functional coatings, improved battery separators which reduce water loss in lead acid batteries, improved lead acid batteries including such improved separators, long life automotive lead acid batteries, improved flooded lead acid batteries, and/or the like, and/or batteries having reduced floating charges and/or reduced electrolysis and/or reduced rates of water loss;
• a polyethylene separator with an additive coating, a polyethylene separator with an additive coating and a separate coating of zinc compound, a polymer separator with an additive coating, a polymer separator having a homogenous coating of an additive and zinc compound, a polymer separator having an additive coating and a separate coating of zinc compound, a polyethylene separator with an additive and metal coating, a polyethylene separator having a homogenous coating of an additive and metal compound, a polyethylene separator having an additive coating and a separate coating of metal compound, and/or the like as shown or described herein.
