Abstract
According to embodiments, systems and methods for tracking gift card usage improve the speed and efficiency of anomalous transaction detection. Individual transaction data is enriched to form parent records that include indicators that the card is being used outside of established usage criteria or in a way that is otherwise abnormal. Machine learning can improve upon anomalous transactions more quickly using this enriched, parent-level information.

A method for rapid analysis of transactional data in a retail environment, the method comprising:
- receiving a first set of data from a source of real-time financial data;
- translating the first set of data into mainframe-formatted data for ingestion in a search database;
- receiving a second set of data from a source of static financial data;
- translating the second set of data into mainframe-formatted data for ingestion in the search database;
- enriching at least some of the first set of data and the second set of data to include fields indicative of anomalous transactions to form enriched data;
- mapping indicators of anomalous transactions onto the enriched data;
- and
- outputting the indicators of anomalous transactions for ingestion in the search database.
A system for rapid analysis of transactional data, the system comprising:
- a source of real-time financial data;
- a source of static financial data;
- an ingestion module configured to translate a first set of data from the source of real-time financial data into mainframe-formatted data for ingestion in a search database;
- an ingestion module configured to translate a second set of data from the source of static financial data into mainframe-formatted data for ingestion in the search database;
- an enrichment module configured to enrich at least some of the first set of data and the second set of data to include fields indicative of anomalous transactions to form enriched data;
- a mapping module configured to map indicators of anomalous transactions onto the enriched data;
- and
- a display configured to output the indicators from the mapping module.
