Abstract
A storage system includes a storage device including a controller and a nonvolatile memory unit, and a host including a processor configured to determine whether or not the host is going to access the storage device within a predetermined range of time, and cause the storage device to be powered off when it is determined that the host is not going to access the storage device within the predetermined range of time.
Claims18
A storage system comprising:
- a storage device including
- a controller and
- a nonvolatile semiconductor memory including a plurality of physical blocks, a physical block being a unit of data erasure;
- and
- a host including a processor configured to
- cause the controller to carry out reading of valid data stored in at least a physical block of the nonvolatile semiconductor memory, and
- cause the controller to carry out writing of the valid data in another physical block after one or more error bits included in the valid data are corrected through error correction.

A method carried out in a storage system including a storage device and a host, the method comprising:
- carrying out, by a controller of the storage device, reading of valid data stored in at least a physical block of a nonvolatile semiconductor memory of the storage device, a physical block being a unit of data erasure, and
- carrying out, by the controller, writing of the valid data in another physical block after one or more error bits included in the valid data are corrected through error correction.
