Disclosed is an illumination device for an apparatus for establishing the color of a tooth, including in the mouth, the illumination device including a support with a lens system that includes at least one lens, an illumination unit, image capturing unit, and a front protection. The illumination unit is arranged at the periphery of the visual field of the lens system.

Illuminating device for an apparatus for establishing the color of a tooth, including in the mouth, comprising a support (10) with its objective (12) provided with at least one lens and a defined field of vision, illuminating means (14), image capturing means (16), a front-end protection (18), wherein the illuminating means (14) are placed on the periphery of the field of vision of the objective (12) and in the immediate proximity of the tooth.
