Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions of S-enantiomer enriched oxprenolol and their use in treating cancer and treating or preventing, in cancer patients, cachexia, body weight loss, lean body mass loss and adipose tissue loss, and improving quality of life and prolonging survival of cancer patients.

A method of treating cancer cachexia in an individual having cancer, comprising administering to the individual an effective amount of a composition comprising oxprenolol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the composition is enantiomerically enriched for S-oxprenolol.

A method of preventing and treating muscle wasting in an individual having cancer, comprising administering to the individual an effective amount of a composition comprising oxprenolol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the composition is enantiomerically enriched for S-oxprenolol.
