Abstract
Disclosed is a use of a nootkatone in the preparation of medicines for preventing and/or treating depression. The nootkatone has a significant efficacy which is better than that of the existing antidepressant drug Prozac; and it has a wide range of sources and offers more choices for preventing and treating depression.

A method of preventing and/or treating depression, comprising administrating an effective amount of nootkatone to the subject in need thereof.
