Abstract
Catheterization is carried out by inserting a probe having a location sensor into a body cavity, and in response to multiple location measurements identifying respective mapped regions of the body cavity. Using the location measurements, a simulated 3-dimensional surface of the body cavity is constructed. One or more unmapped regions are delineated by rotating the simulated 3-dimensional surface about an axis. The simulated 3-dimensional surface of the body cavity is configured to indicate locations of the unmapped regions based on the location measurements.
Claims21
A method, comprising the steps of:
- inserting a probe having a location sensor into a body cavity;
- mapping multiple positions within respective regions of the body cavity, in response to multiple location measurements received from the location sensor, so as to generate respective mapped regions of the body cavity;
- constructing, using the location measurements, a simulated 3-dimensional surface of the body cavity;
- delineating, by rotating the simulated 3-dimensional surface about an axis, one or more unmapped regions of the simulated 3-dimensional surface;
- and
- configuring the simulated 3-dimensional surface of the body cavity to indicate locations of the unmapped regions based on the location measurements.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a probe, configured for insertion into a body cavity of a patient;
- a location sensor in the probe for measuring a position of a distal end of the probe inside the body cavity;
- and
- a processor configured for:
- capturing, from an imaging system, a three-dimensional image of the body cavity;
- constructing, using the captured 3-dimensional image, a simulated 3-dimensional surface of the body cavity;
- mapping, while the probe is within the body cavity, multiple positions within respective regions of the body cavity, in response to multiple location measurements received from the location sensor, so as to generate respective mapped regions of the simulated 3-dimensional surface;
- delineating, by rotating the simulated 3-dimensional surface, one or more unmapped regions of the simulated 3-dimensional surface;
- and
- configuring the simulated 3-dimensional surface to indicate locations of the unmapped regions based on the location measurements.
A computer software product operated in conjunction with a probe having a location sensor and adapted for insertion into a body cavity, the software product including a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium in which computer program instructions are stored, which instructions, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform the steps of:
- mapping multiple positions within respective regions of the body cavity, in response to multiple location measurements received from the location sensor, so as to generate respective mapped regions of the body cavity;
- constructing, using the location measurements, a simulated 3-dimensional surface of the body cavity;
- delineating, by rotating the simulated 3-dimensional surface about an axis, one or more unmapped regions of the simulated 3-dimensional surface;
- and
- configuring the simulated 3-dimensional surface of the body cavity to indicate locations of the unmapped regions based on the location measurements.
