Abstract
A method and an article of manufacture are disclosed for constructing, reinforcing, and repairing various structural elements such as columns, piles and the like using formworks that are reusable. The reusable articles of manufacture employed in the disclosed methods are or, if desired, may be permanently left in place. Same or similar methods and articles of manufacture may be employed to easily construct pipes of any desired diameter in a very short time.

A method of constructing a new structure or reinforcing and/or repairing an existing structure using reusable formwork materials, the method comprising:
- Wrapping, in case of an existing structure, a flexible or a semi rigid or a semi flexible flat sheet of material or a pre-curled sheet of material around the existing structure to create a shell such that there remains a gap between the shell and the structure inside;
- Wrapping, in case of a new structure, a flexible or a semi rigid or a semi flexible flat sheet of material or a pre-curled sheet of material around a frame to create a shell with a cavity therein in a shape of the desired new structure;
- pouring reinforcement material into the gap between the existing structure and the shell or into the cavity of the shell, in case of a new structure, wherein the sheet materials is wrapped at least as many times as required to keep the shell from unwrapping in spite of the internal pressures caused by the reinforcement material;
- and
- leaving the shell in place or unwrapping the shell.
A frame for wrapping laminate materials around it to form a shell for building a new structural member or for repairing and/or reinforcing an existing structural member, the frame comprising:
- hoops of any desired shapes and sizes formed by trimming straps of material to desired sizes and bending and joining both ends of each adjusted-length straps together;
- and
- one or more optional peripheral members that engage each hoop at a desired point and keep the hoops at a distance from a neighboring hoop.
A system of reusable components for constructing, reinforcing, and/or repairing a structure, the system comprising:
- a frame to build a shell with, the frame including:
- hoops of any desired shapes and sizes formed by trimming straps of material to desired sizes and bending and joining both ends of each adjusted-length-strap together;
- one or more optional peripheral members that engage each hoop at a desired point and keeps the hoops at a distance from a neighboring hoop, wherein the engaged hoops and peripheral members form a frame in a shape of a rack of hoops;
- and
- a flexible or a semi rigid or a semi flexible flat sheet of material or a pre-curled sheet of material to be wrapped around the frame to create a shell around the potential or actual structure such that there remains a gap between the shell and an outer surface of the actual structure, wherein reinforcement material is poured into the shell or into the gap between the structure and the shell, and wherein the sheet materials is wrapped at least as many times as required to keep the shell around the frame in spite of the internal pressures caused by the reinforcement material.
