Abstract
A wound dressing comprising an absorbent layer, the absorbent layer being gathered in a longitudinal direction by one or more resilient yarns.

A wound dressing comprising an absorbent layer, the absorbent layer being gathered in a longitudinal direction by one or more resilient yarns.
A wound dressing as claimed in any preceding claim characterised in that the resilient threads or yarns gather the absorbent layer so that the absorbent layer is able to elongate by 25% to 85% and then recover.
A wound dressing as claimed in any preceding claim characterised in that the absorbent layer comprises a fabric comprising gel forming fibres.
A method of manufacturing a wound dressing for use on post surgical wounds characterised in that the method comprises the steps of:
- (i) forming an absorbent layer;
- and
- (ii) gathering the absorbent layer with a resilient yarn.
