Composite structures, materials with a removable backing for composite structures and related devices and methods

A composite structure comprising:

• at least one ply of material extending along a length of the composite structure, the at least one ply of material comprising:
• sections of material extending along the length of the composite structure, each of the sections comprising fibers in at least one selected orientation relative to the length of the composite structure, the at least one selected orientation comprising a non-zero degree angle fiber orientation, the sections of material of the at least one ply of material comprising individual sections that have been cut from a common feedstock, reoriented to provide the at least one selected orientation of the fibers, and lined up end to end to define a length of the at least one ply of material, wherein at least some of the fibers have been stretched over a tool with a forming head of a composite structure forming device.

A method of forming a composite structure, the method comprising:

• applying at least one ply of material on a removable backing over at least one surface of a tool to define a desired shape while the removable backing material remains applied to the at least one ply of material, the at least one ply of material comprising sections of material each including fibers at a desired fiber orientation relative to a lateral side of the removable backing at a non-zero degree angle fiber orientation;
• and
• after applying the at least one ply of material having the desired fiber orientation to the at least one surface of the tool with the removable backing material remaining on the feedstock, removing the removable backing material from the at least one ply of material having the desired shape.
