Combination Spray Nozzle/QD Connector Assembly for Filling Firefighter Backpack Bladders

A wildfire fighting nozzle assembly comprising in operative combination:

• a) a dual nozzle fitting having a water supply input end including an internally threaded female connector to threadedly couple with a supply hose male threaded end, and dual output ends, A and B, each of the output ends including an externally threaded male connector, and a medially disposed 3-way valve assembly selectably switchable between a first closed position, C, and each of said output ends A or B;
• b) a male quick-disconnect nozzle assembly comprising an outer tubular sleeve configured with angled shoulders disposed medially of a forward spray tip, said shoulders being adapted to releasably engage a female quick disconnect connector assembly when inserted therein, and an inner stem terminating at a forward end in a spray tip and an opposed end including a female threaded union;
• c) said male quick-disconnect nozzle assembly outer sleeve and inner stem being to permit selection of the size of opening of said spray tip to provide control of fluid ranging from stream, to spray, to mist by rotation of said outer sleeve with respect to said inner stem;
• d) said male quick-disconnect nozzle assembly is threadedly engaged on said dual nozzle assembly via said female threaded union, and is selectably suppliable with water from said water supply by rotation of said valve to said position A or B;
• and
• e) a forester-type fog nozzle threadedly engaged on said dual nozzle assembly via a female threaded union, and is selectably suppliable with water from said water supply by rotation of said valve to said position A or B.

4) A wildfire fighting fluid nozzle assembly comprising in operative combination:

• a) a male quick-disconnect nozzle assembly having an outer tubular sleeve configured with exterior angled shoulders disposed medially of a forward spray tip, said shoulders being adapted to releasably engage a separate female quick disconnect connector assembly when inserted therein, said outer tubular sleeve terminating in an internal angled taper;
• b) an inner stem fitted within said outer tubular sleeve, said stem terminating at a forward end in a spray tip and an opposed end including a female threaded union, said spray tip cooperating with said internal angled taper of said outer sleeve to provide selectable fluid delivery depending on the spacing of said spray tip from said taper;
• c) said tubular outer sleeve and inner stem being cooperatively threaded to permit selection of the spacing between said spray tip and said taper to provide control of fluid ranging from stream, to spray, to mist by rotation of said outer sleeve with respect to said inner stem;
• d) said outer tubular sleeve having a nose section between said exterior shoulders and said spray tip of length sufficient to fully open an internal spring-biased axially reciprocable valve of a female quick disconnect connector assembly, when said nozzle is inserted into and engaged with said female quick disconnect connector assembly;
• and
• e) so that when said female quick disconnect connector assembly is fitted to the bottom of a container and said fluid nozzle assembly is fitted to a fluid supply hose, said container can be automatically filled from the bottom from said supply hose.
