Abstract
This disclosure pertains to a forming device used in the formation of a package with a self-mating reclosure, where a single self-mating closure wraps around the periphery of the forming device, and one end of the zipper segment extends into the lap seal of the forming device. Alternatively, one or two ends of the zipper segment could extend into a fin seal. The self-mating reclosure is mounted transversely on the sheet of web or film and includes at least one crushed end proximate to one edge of the sheet of web or film. The self-mating closure may be pre-crushed, prior to attachment to the sheet of web or film, or may be crushed after the sheet of web or film is wrapped around a forming forming device or similar structure.
Claims26
A method of forming a forming device, for the production of package or bag, including the steps of:
- providing a sheet of web or film in a machine direction;
- placing a reclosure segment on the sheet of web or film in a transverse direction;
- wrapping the sheet of web or film around a forming device, thereby bringing together first and second edges of the sheet of web or film;
- crushing at least a first end of the reclosure segment thereby forming a first crushed area;
- and
- sealing the first and second edges of the sheet of web or film to each other.
A method of forming a forming device, for the production of package or bag, including the steps of:
- providing a sheet of web or film in a machine direction;
- placing a reclosure segment, with at least one end with a first crushed area, on the sheet of web or film in a transverse direction;
- wrapping the sheet of web or film around a forming device, thereby bringing together first and second edges of the sheet of web or film;
- and
- sealing the first and second edges of the sheet of web or film to each other.
The method of claim 19 wherein the step of sealing the first and second edges of the sheet together further includes the step of sealing the first and second crushed areas to each other.
A polymeric sheet with first and second edges, and a segment of self-mating reclosure attached thereto extending from the first edge to the second edge, the segment of self-mating closure including a first end with a crushed area extending to the first edge of the polymeric sheet, and a second end with an area free of crushing extending to the second edge of the polymeric sheet.
A polymeric sheet with first and second edges, and a segment of self-mating reclosure attached thereto extending from the first edge to the second edge, the segment of self-mating reclosure including a first end with a first crushed area extending to the first edge of the polymeric sheet and a second end with a second crushed area extending to the second edge of the polymeric sheet.
A polymeric sheet with first and second edges, and a segment of self-mating reclosure attached thereto extending from the first edge to the second edge, the segment of self-mating closure including a first end with a crushed area extending to the first edge of the polymeric sheet, and a second end with an area free of crushing, the second end terminating inwardly adjacent from the second edge of the polymeric sheet thereby creating a gap between the second end of the segment of self-mating reclosure and the second edge of the polymeric sheet.
