## Abstract

Method for transmitting signals on a transmission channel (103), comprising the steps of detecting (S101) a channel occupancy of a transmission channel (103) by processing data from a receiving path (105) after an activation of a transmission path (111); and deactivating (S102) the transmission path (111) on the basis of the detected channel occupancy.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-21. (canceled)

### Claim 22

A method for transmitting signals on a transmission channel, comprising:
detecting a channel occupancy of a transmission channel by processing data from a receiving path after an activation of a transmission path; and
deactivating the transmission path based on the detected channel occupancy.

### Claim 23 (depends on 22)

The method of claim 22, wherein the channel occupancy is detected based on the received power on the transmission channel in a time window or a sequence of time windows.

### Claim 24 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the received power is evaluated based on an average power or a peak power within the time window.

### Claim 25 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the length of the time window is shorter than a delay in the receiving path.

### Claim 26 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the time window is adjustable.

### Claim 27 (depends on 26)

The method of claim 26, wherein a length of the time window is adjusted based on the characteristics of the transmission channel.

### Claim 28 (depends on 22)

The method of claim 22, wherein the activation of a transmission path comprises an activation of a power amplifier in the transmission path.

### Claim 29 (depends on 22)

The method of claim 22, wherein the deactivation of a transmission path comprises a deactivation of a power amplifier in the transmission path.

### Claim 30 (depends on 22)

The method of claim 22, wherein the transmission channel is:
a channel within an unlicensed band comprising a Wi-Fi channel, a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) channel in an unlicensed spectrum, or an License-Assisted Access via LTE (LAA-LTE) channel; or
a channel within a licensed band comprising an LTE channel, an UMTS channel or a GSM channel.

### Claim 31 (depends on 22)

The method of claim 22, wherein the data is processed within a predetermined time period after the activation of the transmission path.

### Claim 32

A communication device for transmitting signals on a transmission channel, comprising:
processing circuitry;
memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the communication device is operative to:
detect a channel occupancy of the transmission channel by processing data from a receiving path after an activation of a transmission path; and
deactivate the transmission path based on the detected channel occupancy.

### Claim 33 (depends on 32)

The communication device of claim 32, wherein the instructions are such that the communication device is operative to detect the channel occupancy based on the received power on the transmission channel in a time window or a sequence of time windows.

### Claim 34 (depends on 33)

The communication device of claim 33, wherein the instructions are such that the communication device is operative to evaluate the received power based on an average power or a peak power within the time window.

### Claim 35 (depends on 33)

The communication device of claim 33, wherein the length of the time window is shorter than a delay in the receiving path.

### Claim 36 (depends on 33)

The communication device of claim 33, wherein the instructions are such that the communication device is operative to adjust the time window.

### Claim 37 (depends on 36)

The communication device of claim 36, wherein the instructions are such that the communication device is operative to adjust a length of the time window based on the characteristics of the transmission channel.

### Claim 38 (depends on 32)

The communication device of claim 32, wherein the activation of a transmission path comprises an activation of a power amplifier in the transmission path.

### Claim 39 (depends on 32)

The communication device of claim 32, wherein the deactivation of a transmission path comprises a deactivation of a power amplifier in the transmission path.

### Claim 40 (depends on 32)

The communication device of claim 32, wherein the communication device is a user equipment, a base station, or machine-type communication device.

### Claim 41 (depends on 32)

The communication device of claim 32, wherein the instructions are such that the communication device is operative to process the data within a predetermined time period after the activation of the transmission path.

### Claim 42

A non-transitory computer readable recording medium storing a computer program product for controlling communication device for transmitting signals on a transmission channel, the computer program product comprising software instructions which, when run on processing circuitry of the communication device, causes the communication device to:
detect a channel occupancy of a transmission channel by processing data from a receiving path after an activation of a transmission path; and
deactivate the transmission path based on the detected channel occupancy.
