## Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for determining reduced player performance during a sporting event. The system can use one or more sensors to capture information about actions such as shooting, dribbling, kicking and/or passing an object performed by the player and at least one processor to analyze the information in order to evaluate the player's performance. The system can determine and store at least one parameter indicative of the performance of the player in performing an action, and calculate based on the at least one stored parameter at least one value indicative of whether player intentionally underperformed the action and provide an output indicative of the assessment.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system for evaluating player performance during a sporting event, comprising:
at least one sensor configured to capture sensor data associated with a player performing an action of a type during a sporting event;
at least one processor configured to receive the sensor data and to analyze the sensor data to determine at least one parameter characterizing a performance of the player in performing the action relative to historical data associated one or more players performing the type of action during previous sporting events, the at least one processor further configured to determine based on the at least one parameter whether the player intentionally underperformed for the action during the sporting event; and
an output interface configured to provide an output indicating whether the player is determined by the at least one processor to intentionally underperform for the action.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the action includes a player launching an object toward a goal during a shot of the object at the sporting event, and wherein the output indicates with the player intentionally missed the shot.

### Claim 3

A system for evaluating player performance during sporting events, comprising:
at least one sensor configured to capture sensor data associated with a player launching an object toward a goal during a shot of the object at the sporting event;
at least one processor configured to receive the sensor data and to identify the object within the sensor data, the at least one processor configured to determine a trajectory of the object for the shot based on the sensor data and to determine at least one parameter based on the trajectory, the at least one processor further configured to determine, based on the at least one parameter, a value indicating whether the player likely missed the shot intentionally; and
an output interface configured to provide, based on the value, an output indicating whether a miss of the shot by the player is likely intentional.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the object is a basketball, and wherein the goal is a basketball goal having a hoop.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The system of claim 4, wherein the at least one parameter is indicative of an entry angle of the basketball into the hoop.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the at least one parameter indicates a direction of the object.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the at least one parameter indicates a speed of the object.

### Claim 8 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the value is based on how the at least on parameter compares to historical data indicative of past performances of the player in launching objects towards goals at previous sporting events.

### Claim 9 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the output includes a probability value indicating a probability that the player intentionally missed the shot.

### Claim 10 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the at least one parameter characterizes a performance of the player in shooting the object toward the goal relative to historical data associated with the player shooting objects to goals during pervious sporting events.

### Claim 11

A method for evaluating player performance during sporting events, comprising:
capturing, with at least one sensor, sensor data associated with a player shooting an object toward a goal at a sporting event;
receiving the sensor data with at least one processor;
determining, with the at least one processor based on the sensor data, at least one parameter characterizing a performance of the player in shooting the object toward the goal;
determining, with the at least one processor based on the at least one parameter, whether the player intentionally missed the goal in shooting the object toward the goal; and
providing an output with an output interface indicative of whether the at least one processor determined whether the player intentionally missed the goal in shooting the object toward the goal.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the object is a basketball, and wherein the goal is a basketball goal having a hoop.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the at least one parameter includes an entry angle of the basketball into the hoop.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the at least one parameter indicates a direction of the object.

### Claim 15 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the at least one parameter indicates a speed of the object.

### Claim 16 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the output includes a probability value indicating a probability that the player intentionally missed the goal in shooting the object toward the goal.

### Claim 17 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, further comprising storing, in memory, historical data indicative of a plurality of shots by the player prior to the capturing, wherein each of the shots includes the player shooting an object toward a goal, wherein the determining whether the player intentionally missed the goal is based on the historical data.
