## Abstract

A heat sink assembly for a light fixture can include at least one heat sink fin disposed in thermal communication with at least one heat-generating component of the light fixture, where the at least one heat sink fin includes a thermoplastic material. The at least one heat sink fin can absorb and dissipate sufficient heat to comply with applicable industry standards for the light fixture.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A heat sink assembly for a light fixture, the heat sink assembly comprising:
at least one heat sink fin disposed in thermal communication with at least one heat-generating component of the light fixture, wherein the at least one heat sink fin comprises a thermoplastic material,
wherein the at least one heat sink fin absorbs and dissipates sufficient heat to comply with applicable industry standards for the light fixture.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The heat sink assembly of claim 1, further comprising:
a base coupled to the at least one heat sink fin, wherein the base is further coupled to at least one lighting panel.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the base comprises a body in which at least one electrical lead is embedded, wherein the at least one electrical lead provides power from a power supply of the light fixture to the at least one lighting panel.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the at least one lighting panel is a plurality of lighting panels, wherein the base comprises a plurality of recesses in which the plurality of lighting panels is disposed, wherein the plurality of lighting panels, when disposed in the plurality of recesses, receives power to operate, wherein one lighting panel of the plurality of lighting panels can be removed without disrupting operation of a remainder of the plurality of lighting panels.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the base comprises the thermoplastic material.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the base has at least one heat pipe disposed therein.

### Claim 7 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the base comprises at least one channel that traverses its width.

### Claim 8 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the base comprises at least one feature that complements at least one complementary feature of an adjacent base of an adjacent heat sink assembly.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The heat sink assembly of claim 8, wherein the at least one feature comprises a recess, and wherein the at least one complementary feature comprises a protrusion.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The heat sink assembly of claim 8, wherein the at least one feature comprises a coupling feature, and wherein the at least one complementary feature comprises a complementary coupling feature.

### Claim 11 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the base has a first length that is less than a second length of the at least one heat sink fin.

### Claim 12 (depends on 2)

The heat sink assembly of claim 2, wherein the base comprises at least one removable plate.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The heat sink assembly of claim 1, wherein the at least one heat sink fin comprises at least one electrical lead embedded in a wall of the at least one heat sink fin, wherein the at least one electrical lead provides power from a power supply of the light fixture to at least one lighting panel.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The heat sink assembly of claim 1, wherein the at least one heat sink fin comprises at least one stud embedded in a wall of the at least one heat sink fin, wherein the at least one stud transceives signals.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The heat sink assembly of claim 14, wherein the at least one stud comprises a sensor.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The heat sink assembly of claim 15, wherein the sensor measures temperature.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The heat sink assembly of claim 16, wherein the stud is communicably coupled to a controller, wherein the controller determines that a temperature measured by the sensor falls outside a range of acceptable values, wherein the controller adjusts an amount of current delivered by a power supply to a component of the light fixture located proximate to the sensor to bring the temperature within the range of acceptable values.

### Claim 18 (depends on 14)

The heat sink assembly of claim 14, wherein the at least one stud delivers power from a power supply, through the at least one heat sink fin, to at least one lighting panel.

### Claim 19 (depends on 1)
