Abstract
A method is presented for producing light using a liquid media. The method includes: hosting nanoparticles in a liquid media; disposing a pair of electrodes in direct contact with the liquid media; and generating an excitation signal between the electrodes in the pair of electrodes, thereby illuminating a portion of the nanoparticles.
Claims11
A method for producing light, comprising:
- providing a light source, comprising
- a support member;
- a liquid media supported by the support member;
- at least one pair of electrodes disposed on the support member, wherein electrodes disposed on the at least one pair of electrodes are arranged coplanar with each other, where nanoparticles are deposited on the support member and are in between the electrodes in the at least one pair of electrodes, the nanoparticles are comprised of a luminescent material and are in the presence of the liquid media;
- and
- an excitation source electrically coupled to the at least one pair of electrodes and operable to apply an excitation signal between the electrodes in the pair of electrodes;
- and
- generating an excitation signal between the electrodes in the pair of electrodes, thereby causing light emission from the nanoparticles.
