Return link prioritization of selective events on a mobile platform

A multi-user network access terminal serving multiple communication devices on a vehicle via one or more shared communication links, the multi-user network access terminal comprising:

• a receiver configured to receive a pre-defined triggering event from a triggering device on the vehicle;
• a triggering event manager configured to identify real-time return link data associated with the pre-defined triggering event for transmission via the one or more shared communication links;
• a return link queue manager configured to prioritize the real-time return link data relative to other return link data associated with the multiple communication devices via the one or more shared communication links;
• and
• a transmitter configured to transmit the prioritized real-time return link data via the one or more shared communication links.

A method for communication in a communication system providing network access service to communication devices on multiple vehicles via one or more shared communication links, the method comprising:

• receiving respective resource requests from respective multi-user network access terminals of the multiple vehicles for network resources of the one or more shared communication links;
• obtaining an indication of a triggering event associated with a real-time data stream from a vehicle of the multiple vehicles;
• and
• scheduling resources of the one or more shared communication links for the respective resource request associated with the vehicle prior to scheduling other resources of the one or more shared communication links for the remaining respective resource requests associated with the remainder of the multiple vehicles.
