Inter-radio access technology (rat), inter-band, or inter-carrier switching base on power consumption

A method for wireless communications by a base station of a first radio access technology (RAT), comprising:

• receiving, from a user equipment (UE), signaling indicating at least one of a power consumption metric or a content-based metric of the UE for communicating in at least a first RAT resource and a second RAT resource;
• and
• taking action to switch the UE to communicate via the first RAT resource, the second RAT resource, or both, based on the at least one of the power consumption metric or the content-based metric.

An apparatus for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• means for signaling at least one power consumption metric of the UE for communicating in at least first and second radio access technologies (RAT) resources;
• and
• means for taking action to switch to communicate via the first RAT resource, the second RAT resource, or both, based on the at least one power consumption metric.

An apparatus for wireless communications by a base station of a first radio access technology (RAT), comprising:

• means for receiving, from a user equipment (UE), signaling indicating at least one of a power consumption metric or a content-based metric of the UE for communicating in at least a first RAT resource and a second RAT resource;
• and
• means for taking action to switch the UE to communicate via the first RAT resource, the second RAT resource, or both, based on the at least one of the power consumption metric or the content-based metric.
