Interaction bar for real-time interactions with content on a social networking system

A method comprising:

• storing a content item page associated with a content item, and the content item page including a content item header containing information about the content item;
• receiving an interaction with the content item from a first user of the social networking system;
• and
• responsive to receiving the interaction:
• identifying a plurality of users that are currently viewing the content item page,
• generating an affinity score for each user of the plurality of users for the interaction,
• selecting a second user of the plurality of users that is currently viewing the content item page based on the generated affinity scores, the second user being different from the first user and viewing a portion of the content item page that does not include the top of the content item page, and
• presenting, to the second user, an interaction bar in the content item header of the content item page, the interaction bar identifying the second user and describing the interaction near to when the interaction occurs.
