Configuration Technique for a Network Element in a Communication Network

A method of configuring a network element in a communication network, the method being performed by the network element and comprising:

• receiving a configuration profile defining:
• a first set of one or more parameter values for one or more associated configuration parameters of the network element;
• and
• one or more activation conditions for the first set of one or more parameter values;
• determining whether the one or more activation conditions are fulfilled;
• and
• responsive to determining that the one or more activation conditions are fulfilled, triggering activation of the first set of one or more parameter values defined in the configuration profile for the one or more associated parameters.

A method of configuring a network element in a communication network, the method being performed by a network management component and comprising:

• storing a configuration profile defining:
• a set of one or more parameter values for one or more associated configuration parameters of the network element;
• and
• one or more activation conditions for the set of one or more parameter values;
• and
• sending the configuration profile to at least one network element.

A network element for a communication network, the network element comprising:

• an interface configured to receive a configuration profile defining:
• a first set of one or more parameter values for one or more associated configuration parameters of the network element;
• and
• one or more activation conditions for the first set of one or more parameter values;
• and
• a processor configured to:
• determine whether the one or more activation conditions are fulfilled;
• and
• responsive to determining that the one or more activation conditions are fulfilled, trigger activation of the first set of one or more parameter values defined in the configuration profile for the one or more associated parameters.
