Abstract
This disclosure generally relates to an energy generation system. In one embodiment, the energy generation system comprises a plurality of solar panels that are connected in a series electrical connection. The energy generation system further includes a short-string optimizer which outputs direct current electricity to a direct current bus.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- a solar panel array including a plurality of solar panels, which are arranged in one or more short strings of two or more solar panels, wherein the two or more solar panels in one of the one or more short strings is disposed in a location that is at least partially shaded for at least a portion of a day.
A system comprising:
- a single solar panel disposed in a location that is at least partially shaded for at least a portion of a day which is connected in series with a short string optimizer.
The system of claim 14, wherein the short string optimizers for each of the plurality of strings of solar panels and the short string optimizer connected in series with the single solar panel are connected in a parallel electrical connection.
A system comprising:
- an array of electrical generators including a plurality of electrical generators, which are arranged in one or more short strings of two or more electrical generators, wherein the two or more electrical generators in one of the one or more short strings fails to generate electricity for at least a portion of a day.
