Alert system for detecting rising water levels

An alert device for detecting rising water levels, the alert device comprising:

• a weighted base plate;
• an alarm assembly having an activation mechanism;
• a main body having an anterior end and a posterior end, a length therebetween, said posterior end of said main body being attached to said base plate and positioned approximately vertically therefrom and said alarm assembly being attached toward said anterior end of said main body, said main body including:
• a float having an opening therethrough and being smaller than said main body;
• a stabilizing rod slideably positioned through said opening of said float;
• and
• a water level rod having an anterior end and a posterior end and a length therebetween, said float being attached to said water level rod at or near its posterior end and said water level rod extending approximately vertically therefrom so as to contact said activation mechanism if said float moves vertically upward a predetermined distance.
