Gender specific synthetic nutritional compositions comprising phenylalanine in concentrations reflecting those found in human milk produced by mothers of infants of the corresponding gender at the corresponding stage of lactation, and nutritional systems comprising them.

A Gender specific synthetic nutritional composition tailored for an infant comprising phenylalanine in a concentration reflecting the concentration found in human milk produced for an infant of the same gender at the corresponding lactation stage.

- preparing a gender specific synthetic nutritional composition tailored for an infant comprising phenylalanine in a concentration reflecting the concentration found in human milk produced for an infant of the same gender at the corresponding lactation stage;
- and
- feeding the gender specific synthetic nutritional composition to an infant.
