Abstract
A splitting apparatus comprising a first splitting blade having a smooth top with a width X and a shoulder angle of less than the friction angle, relative to a point in the middle of the top, and a second splitting blade disposed opposite the first splitting blade, the second splitting blade having a smooth top with a width Y and a shoulder angle of less than the friction angle, relative to a point in the middle of the top.

1-20. (canceled)
A splitting apparatus comprising:
- a splitting blade having first and second angled flat surfaces meeting at a point in the middle of a top of the splitting blade, the first and second angled surfaces are disposed at an angle of less than 20 degrees and greater than 5 degrees to each other relative to a point in the middle of the top;
- and
- a blade support forming a substantially flush surface with the splitting blade.
A method of processing masonry blocks, comprising:
- crushing a masonry block against first and second flat surfaces of a splitting blade that meet at a point in a middle of a top of the splitting blade, where the first and second angled surfaces are disposed at an angle of less than 20 degrees and greater than 5 degrees to each other relative to a point in the middle of the top, until the masonry block is split and debris is generated;
- and
- wiping the debris from the smooth surface by sliding at least one of the split masonry block pieces over the first and second flat surfaces.
A method of cleaning masonry splitter blades comprising:
- pushing a first masonry block towards first and second flat surfaces of a splitting blade that meet at a point in a middle of a top of the splitting blade, where the first and second angled surfaces are disposed at an angle of less than 20 degrees and greater than 5 degrees to each other relative to a point in the middle of the top;
- sliding the first masonry block over the first and second flat surfaces;
- splitting the masonry block;
- and
- removing debris from the first and second flat surfaces by repeating the pushing and sliding steps.
