Abstract
The invention relates generally to the field of nanoparticles, and more specifically, in one embodiment, to bio-nanoparticle elements formed from materials comprised of self-assembling protein molecules, which are capable of coating one or more type of elements. In another invention embodiment, the invention relates to a protein that coats one or more elements in order to modify or improve one or more characteristic of the element, including, but not limited to, stability, rigidity, or functionality of the element that is coated with the instant invention.
Claims43
An isolated composition for use to affix a coating comprised of a purified coat protein to an element, said composition comprising:
- one or more of an arrangement of said coat protein and the protein arrangements are comprised of at least one of the protein, and at least one of a manner of the protein arrangement is affixed to at least some portion of the one or more element, wherein the protein arrangement coats the element in whole or in part with the coat protein;
- and said protein arrangements are arrangements that are not protein cage arrangements.

A method for an isolated composition for use to affix a coating comprised of a purified coat protein to an element, said method comprising:
- (a) selecting said protein from a purified clathrin, coatomer I, coatomer II coat protein, or a fragment thereof, (b) forming one or more of an arrangement comprising one or more of the selected protein, (c) affixing at least one of a manner of the protein arrangement to at least some portion of the one or more element, wherein the element is coated in whole or in part with the coat protein;
- and said protein arrangements are arrangements that are not protein cage arrangements.
