Abstract
Methods and systems for coordinating simultaneous transmission by two or more access points over a single channel of a wireless medium are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes determining, by a first access point, a time when the first access point and a second access point will transmit simultaneously over the channel, and transmitting, by the first access point, over the channel at the time.
Claims30
A method of coordinating simultaneous transmission over a single channel of a wireless medium, the method comprising:
- determining, by a first wireless device, a time when the first wireless device and a second wireless device will simultaneously transmit, over the single channel, data for a distributed multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) communication;
- and
- transmitting over the channel, from the first wireless device, at the determined time, a first data portion for the distributed MIMO communication.
A method of coordinating simultaneous transmission over a single channel of a wireless medium, the method comprising:
- determining, by a first access point, a time when the first access point and a second access point will simultaneously transmit over the channel;
- and
- transmitting, by the first access point, a first message.
An apparatus for coordinating simultaneous transmissions over a single channel of a wireless medium, the apparatus comprising an electronic hardware processor configured to cause the apparatus to:
- determine a time when the apparatus and a second wireless device will simultaneously transmit, over the single channel, data for a distributed multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) communication;
- and
- transmit over the channel, at the determined time, a first data portion for the distributed MIMO communication.
An apparatus for coordinating simultaneous transmission over a single channel of a wireless medium, the apparatus comprising an electronic hardware processor configured to cause the apparatus to:
- determine a time when the apparatus and at least a second access point will simultaneously transmit over the channel;
- and
- transmit a first message.
