System and method of preventing and remedying restricted area intrusions by unmanned aerial vehicles

A method of preventing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intrusion into restricted areas, the method comprising:

• determining a position of the UAV based on one or more position sensors;
• requesting spatially relevant restricted area data from a restricted area aggregator, wherein the restricted area aggregator is a geographically searchable database that collects restricted area data from a plurality of sources, wherein a request for spatially relevant restricted area data includes the determined position of the UAV;
• receiving from the restricted area aggregator spatially relevant restricted area data and storing the received spatially relevant restricted area data;
• and
• determining based on the position of the UAV and the received spatially relevant restricted area data wherein the UAV is currently intruding within a restricted area or is predicted to intrude within a restricted area, wherein in response to a detected or predicted intrusion of a restricted area flight controls are automatically generated to remedy or prevent the intrusion.
