Abstract
A portable surface for lounging or sleeping with an elevated leg rest and backrest, and a seat that rests on the ground or other supporting surface such as a car seat, truck bed or bleacher. The various parts of the chair can be folded up and nest inside of each other in a compact bundle that may fit in a backpack or a map pocket for easy portability. When folded up, a strap can be tightened around the apparatus preventing the innards from unfolding, creating a smaller profile.
Claims20
A portable surface for lounging or sleeping comprising:
- (a) a sheet of material that can be collapsed when not in use,
- (b) said sheet of material being of sufficient size to support a human occupant's back, seat, and thighs,
- (c) a first means of structural support to elevate one part of said sheet of material where the occupant's back rests,
- (d) a second means of structural support to elevate a second part of said material where the occupant's legs rest,
- (e) said sheet of material contacting a supporting surface directly, where the occupant's seat rests when in use,
- whereby said portable surface can provide comfortable body support, requiring no bulky frame between the seat and a supporting surface, such as the ground.
A portable surface for lounging or sleeping comprising:
- (a) a sheet of material that can be collapsed when not in use,
- (b) said sheet of material being of sufficient size to support a human occupant's back, seat, and thighs,
- (c) said sheet of material being divided into segments by at least one horizontal fold where the occupant's back rests, each of said segments being supported by its own support member or its own plurality of support members, to hold multiple segments of said sheet of material in place at an incline at the part of said sheet of material where the occupant's back rests.
- whereby said portable surface can be folded into a parcel smaller than the length of the back rest portion of said sheet of material, and requiring no bulky frame for stability.
A portable surface for lounging or sleeping comprising:
- (a) a sheet of material that can be collapsed when not in use,
- (b) said sheet of material being of sufficient size to support a human occupant's back, seat, and thighs,
- (c) said sheet of material being held in place at an incline, where the occupant's legs rest, by a first support member contacting said sheet of material along a first horizontal fold, and a second support member contacting said sheet of material along a second horizontal fold in said sheet of material,
- whereby said portable surface can support an occupant's legs at an incline, spreading the pressure of the weight of the legs across multiple points of contact and reducing pressure at the points of contact between the legs and said support members through said sheet of material, providing comfort, and obviating the need for a bulky frame.
